This is what I see in my head whenever I think of “search engines”… I know it’s not at all right.
This week marks four months since the site launched and I don’t know about you all but I’ve been having a blast! One of the things I find really funny about running a website is seeing the things people enter into search engines that bring them to your site. I’ve put together a list of 10 searches that made me smile (these aren’t the gross, weird or ridiculous ones, I’ll share those another time) and as I was making the list I rounded up a bunch of older pieces and favorite links…It’s pretty much like one of those sitcom clip-shows where one character would say something like “Well it hasn’t always been easy…” and the 15 minutes of clips from past seasons would run. I hope you enjoy my little trip down memory lane!
- redhead sex – Now, I’m fairly certain this person was looking for porn featuring redheads but it’s more fun to imagine that they really wanted a redhead’s perspective on the matter. It reminded me of one of my all-time favorite pieces from The Onion.
- awesome orgasm – Glad to help, I hope they found their way to “Come on!” my piece on orgasms that featured links to some great resources including Sex Nerd Sandra’s Orgasms for Everybody episode featuring Megan Andelloux.
- r&b 90s lovemaking songs – when I saw this one I felt like the internet was picking up what I was putting down and I could die happy.
- “please cream lubricant” nyc – This made me realize that I was mentioning my favorite lube a lot! Sadly, for this searcher, I don’t believe it is available in NYC. Happily, it’s always available from Good Vibrations online!
- my friends foreskin – This was one of many circumcision/foreskin searches that led people here. If you started reading more recently you may not know that one of my earliest posts was “Dr. Foreskin or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Hood” (still one of my favorite titles!) where I talked at length about our uncut friends.
- shaving labia and feminism- This is the least porn-y of the pubic hair searches that bring folks here. I know, I know, I wrote about pubic hair and I even used the word “bush” in the title, really I brought the porn pube searchers upon myself. This person, though, may have found something they were interested in reading about re: labia and feminsim.
- is online dating wrong place to find love- This one touched my heart! I know I’ve shared several tales of online dating misadventures with you all. There were times it all sounded pretty bad! But we also talked about knowing how to play the online dating game well, I hope it helped!
- sex positive parenting-YAY! This topic is dear to my heart -but to be clear, as this has caused confusion, I am not a parent 😉 – and writing about it got me in touch with two of my absolute favorite educators: Airial Clark- The Sex Positive Parent and Lanae St.John – The MamaSutra
- sexual health resources- So, yes, I actually have a page with this title. Generally though it was cool to have someone be led here looking for something I was trying to provide 🙂
- bedhead redhead blog-Finally, the ones that look like this, which make me smile because they mean one of two things. Either A. Folks besides my mom are trying to find the page. or B. My mom hasn’t figured out bookmarking and searches for me a lot. Either way, fun!
