I’ve always been a little curious about Liberator products but when it came down to it I would just say “eh, why not use pillows instead?” I mean I harbor no illusions, I know pillows always end up flattened and flopping all over the place and you never stay in the position that you are using them for and… oh, who am I kidding? Pillows are sometimes just full of fail and I was getting a bit grumpy about them. Then I went to Lady Cheeky’s Big, Beautiful Sex class and she talked at length (with pictures) about the wonder of Liberator products and, well I was itching to hop on the bandwagon… or, you know, the Liberator Wedge (#badpuns)
So, what’s the deal with this toy? It’s a super-firm, wedge-shaped cushion that’s designed exclusively for sexy time body support.
How does it work? Well, you put it down and then you assume different positions on top of it and, you know, get down on it. If you are flummoxed as to how to go about that, Liberator provides a neat position guide that I received a hard copy of with my Wedge.
Want some nuts & bolts info? The cushion itself is polyurethane and the cover (which comes in a variety of colors, I chose black) is microfiber and both removable and washable. Here are the dimensions: 24″ x 14″ x 7″
No, seriously, how does it feel?
I love this thing. Is it a necessity that everyone must own to make their sex life complete? Of course not. Does it make sex a bit more fun? Hells yeah. After spending a lot of time with positions starting great because of pillows supporting me and then losing steam as the pillows flattened and scattered, it’s awesome that this doesn’t budge— once you place it, it’s set. With the Wedge I was able to relax and enjoy positions that have previously put too much pressure on my back (ps: I had spinal surgery at 29, so there’s that). What I really like though was that it made us feel a bit inspired to explore. Once we tried out the things we had assumed we’d use it for we had a moment of “ok, how else could this work?” Some stuff worked and some stuff definitely did not work but exploration is always so much fun.
Working for me:
- The Wedge is super comfortable and supportive.
- The removable cover is fabulous for cleaning.
- The size is great, it’s big enough that I felt supported and like I wasn’t spilling off it but not so big as to be cumbersome to store. There are different versions of the Wedge, including shapes which are smaller and a plus-sized version which is larger..
- Ideologically I like things that help people make their sex more work-able. If sex if causing you pain or discomfort you won’t want to do it finding ways to work it that make you feel supported can make all the difference- I wish I had one of these back when I was injured!
- The way this was packaged was neat (I never think to photograph these things) it came vacuum packed into a box that looked like it could never have held the wedge… and yet it did. Yay for not taking up more space than necessary.
Not so much:
- I would like the tall side to be a little bit taller. Liberator also makes a product called the Ramp which is substantially larger and I have come to the conclusion that I would like a height that is somewhere between the two
