Motorhead Overkill 7 Function Power Classic Vibrator

Edit: The Motörhead line has gone on to the great nightstand in the sky. If you are looking for a fun take on a basic vibe, I suggest something like this, which is available in multiple awesome designs!

The Motörhead Overkill 7 Function Power Classic Vibrator and I were pretty much destined for each other. A while back I talked about my years-long love for classic smoothie vibes. The first vibrator that ever worked for me was a hard plastic smoothie and they’ve held a place in my heart ever since. I’ve never let go of that first one (or I may have replaced it with an identical one, my memory is fuzzy), I fell for my beloved pirate vibe during the Superhero tour and then last year Lovehoney won me over with the Tracey Cox Supersex Power Vibe. I have a real thing for these things.

The original
The one with pirates
The last addition

But I also had very strong feelings about how newer ones were being made, I had noticed that the smoothie vibes were being made to run off AAA batteries instead of Cs. Folks assured me this didn’t equal less power but it seemed flimsier to me- and all-around less beefy. I have been clinging to the big beefy C battery smoothies for dear life and refusing to try the smaller AAA interlopers. So, what made me change my mind? Motörhead, man!

Motorhead Overkill 7 Function Power Classic Vibrator

Look at this thing!!

So, what’s the deal with this toy? It’s a submersible smoothie vibe with 3 speeds and 4 patterns. It runs off 3 AAA batteries. It looks badass, loving my pirate vibe like I do lusting after this was no surprise!

How does it work? Easy push-button control.

How does it feel? It’s hard plastic – a nonporous, body safe material btw – which is the traditional material for a toy of this kind. Because it uses the AAA batteries instead of the Cs there is much less battery rattling than I’m used to.

No, seriously, how does it feel? Well, if you’ve been reading me for any period of time you have noticed a recurring vibrator theme: I need my toys to cover a lot of surface area, I also need to be able to get some leverage on them for pushing  against my body- they can’t be floppy. Add to that a motor that is reasonably strong and not buzzy  and I’m pretty much good to go. Smoothies do the job- I tend to take one with me on all road trips! The awesome news? The Motörhead Overkill 7 Function Power Classic Vibrator more than delivers. For reals. Is it the strongest, most powerful vibe ever? No but, seriously, the steady vibrations actually impressed me and proved my whole “AAAs can’t get it done like Cs” theory very wrong! It gets the job done for me (who tends to require strength over large areas) and I can definitively say that the Overkill is a good, strong vibe that I would recommend to anyone looking for something straightforward and strong.

Vibes like this may not have many bells and whistles but for me they are good, classic workhorses. The Motörhead line has of toys has added a badass look to a toy that could be pretty standard otherwise.

Things I’m down with:

  • This thing looks badass!
  • Surprisingly powerful
  • It’s submersible.
  • It’s nonporous and cleaning is a breeze. Soap and water will do it.

Things that make me go grr:

  •  I should mention that it is a battery operated toy and that does add to your lifetime cost.
  • The price point on this one is a little problematic for me. Yes it’s strong, yes it’s cool but $45 for a hard plastic smoothie vibe feels a bit pricey.

The Motörhead line has gone on to the great nightstand in the sky. If you are looking for a fun take on a basic vibe, I suggest something like this, which is available in multiple awesome designs!

Thank you to Lovehoney for giving me the Motorhead Overkill 7 Function Power Classic Vibrator to test!

I love your reviews because we’re similar in the love of strong broad stimulation. I actually recently was looking at a well rated smoothie style vibe considering it. All my vibes right now are rechargeable or plug in… I have bad luck with the caps on battery powered vibes cracking. I’ve had the entire plastic casing of a smoothie vibe crack open too. Am I just rough with mine? Lol. I think it didn’t help that I used to almost exclusively get off on my belly and I liked grinding against my toys and really heavy pressure so…

Funny because I think I only ever had one C battery vibe. Even a decade ago the AA ones were very common (at least at sleazy shops). I’ve had vibes that took as many as 6 of ’em in one go though. The only C battery toy I had broke so fast and was a jelly monstrosity so I have no idea now how the power compared. The smoothie vibe I was just recently eyeing though took C and it made me wonder how the power would be. Might be worth a try though. I’m notoriously hard to get off these days thanks to heavy long term use of narcotic pain meds and major disability and muscle faitigue. But the smoothies won’t kill my hand and wrist as bad either and eh the Motorhead ones look pretty cool but I’d go for a cheaper one for sure… But hey not a whole lot to lose. I’ve gotten too many $100 vibes that don’t cut it for me so like a $20 smoothie vibe plus batteries? Why not. Your review kind of helped persuade me too. I figure some battery vibes are at least as strong or stronger than plenty of recharagbles too, right? I’ve become a no battery snob but maybe I’m missing out!

Do you ever use recharagble batteries? I’ve heard somewhere they could damage cheap toys or something yet also noticed Fun Factory directly recommends them in their product info. Just wondering. I do have rechargable AAs around I bought for a camera so…

These and the Vibratex Mystic Wand are the only things I deal with that use batteries. For the most part I’m partial to rechargeables and plug-ins myself. I haven’t tried rechargeable batteries… It just never occurred to me.

One thing I will say re: narcotic pain killers. Last year during a bout with percocet the only thing that worked for my was the Magic Wand and I only found that out because I owed someone a review and had to test the new one. The big wands are great for when drug side effects hit.

Yeah, I’m a long time magic wand user. My big problem there though is I currently am stuck living with family so not a lot of privacy. In particular I have a 23 year old brother who also lives at home and works weird hours and invites random male friends over at all hours of the day and night and needless to say I don’t want these young guys hearing a loud vibrator, you know? Was good during the summer when I had an especially rumbly window air conditioner in. Drowned it out fantastically. Bought a fan but it’s too quiet and music doesn’t seem to work well enough… It sucks.

Occasionally I can get off from the WeVibe Tango but my clit doesn’t love direct stimulation and numbs up or even buries itself and it just dies and eh that’s so bad on my wrist and hand to hold especially with all the pressure I need.

Used to love water and the shower head but the pipes here won’t work with removable showetheads (old house/ pipes) and I have a permanent IV line in which isn’t supposed to get wet so I mostly bed bath anyhow.

So many obstacles its ridiculous honestly. I really want the Swan Wand but SheVibe was out of stock during black Friday deals and I spent too much so have to wait on that for now. I think that might be a good option for me though. That and honestly I’d I use a dildo or vibe internally at the same time it helps a lot and I almost always get off just I don’t always have the energy or feel like doing so… It’s dumb really how much I rarely feel like doing that but it does work. Stupidly well. Just for some reason I’m like eh I don’t feel like it.

Altering when I take my meds or masturbating when a dose is wearing off helps but I’m on high dose fentanyl patches too so there’s constantly meds in my system no matter what. And that’s just not gonna change. Weirdly I’m positive I could get off with my own fingers well if it weren’t for how terrible my wrist and finger joints are. I end up using vibes for too long and irritating myself and it feels like if only I could use my fingers…

Honestly too, I think I’m depressed. Wasn’t having half as much trouble until lately. Or I feel down and I turn to masturbation because eh I’m largely bedbound in an unaccessible home I don’t want to be in with toxic family and a small town where even if it were easy to get out there’s nothing to do… So I’m like meh lets masturbate I guess and then I’m like meh this doesn’t work either. I’m rambling but I’m so moody and down and I’m not fond of admitting that… I think that’s a bigger issue than the meds.

I also love smoothies. My first non-toxic toy was a 2 AAA small smoothie. It had a really nice rumble. I remember reccing it everywhere over the net. However smoothies have one draw-back. They tend to break when dropped. Every one of mine ended up with a shattered cap, no matter how careful I was. I’ve never broken a glass dildo (that honor goes to my gf) but hard plastic toys haven’t had as much luck.

As for this bullet I’m very apprehensive about the silver die – will it peal off? Will the design stay put? I wish they used that $45 on a steel casing. That would be a thing of beauty.
